Young striker Courtney Baker-Richardson becomes the fourth Under 18 to make the step up for the first time this season

Young Sky Blues Academy striker Courtney Baker-Richardson has been handed a first team squad number ahead of City's FA Cup first round trip to face AFC Wilmbledon.

The 17-year-old will sport number 38 for when the Sky Blues take the trip to Kingsmeadow for the live televised clash on BT Sport at 7.45pm.

Baker-Richardson is the fourth Under 18s player to be handed a first team squad number for the first time this season, following on from midfielders James Maddison and George Thomas and goalkeeper Alex Gott.

Speaking about his decision to bring the youngster into his squad, City boss Steven Pressley said: "He's a typical number nine is Courtney. He's strong, mobile, he works extremely hard for the team and, along with George Thomas, he gives us another attacking option.

"That means tomorrow night 11 out of the 18 players in the matchday will have come from our Academy which is fantastic for a club like us."
