Club staff flying the flag for the Sky Blues in this year's annual Coventry Fun Run
Staff from behind the scenes at Coventry City Football Club and some of their family members are set to show their own athletic prowess in the name of charity.
Thirteen members of staff from across the club are taking part in the 30th annual Coventry Fun Run on Sunday, June 9 and are running on behalf of several charities.
The club has lent its support to the Coventry Three Spires Round Table committee which has organised the event and has helped to raise its profile through a variety of club media.
And now staff are going the extra mile (or 3.5 miles, to be precise) to raise money for CRASAC, Liver Foundation Trust (Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham), Myton Hospice, Zoe’s Place Coventry, Bulkington Netball Club and Tiny Tim’s Purple Planet Children’s Centre.
Development director Steve Waggott said: “The team have been really pushing support for the Coventry Fun Run, which is a key date in the city’s calendar.
“Since we have been encouraging others to take part, the team decided at an early stage that they would like to run it too.
“I think people’s training regimes have varied but this is one of those events that is not about competition but about taking part and enjoying a great day as well as raising money for good causes.”
The Sky Blues will also have a strong presence at the charity village on the day, providing activities such as arts and crafts and games, including Sky Blues in the Community’s inflatable Power Shot. Of course our very own Sky Blue Sam will be there too!
