City Ladies Festival Day this Saturday!

Coventry City Ladies will be hosting an open girls training session this Saturday at the Moat House Leisure Centre.

It’ll be a chance for girls aged nine to 17 to hone their skills under the expert supervision of Captain Natasha Lynch and Helen Dermody, amongst others.

There will be organised tournaments on the day, along with a collection of superb prizes up for grabs. The event costs just £3 per person, with proceeds going towards the junior division of the club, which caters for four teams, ranging from Under-11 to Under-18 level.

Club Secretary Andy Stickley said: “This year we will be entering four teams into the Central Warwickshire Girls League. The club’s Board believe this to be an exciting time for the junior set-up with four of our senior players heading up the section.

"These include current first-team Captain Natasha Lynch along with Helen Dermody, Nikki Miles and Jay Bradford. However, as with the running of all football clubs there is a cost to us to run the section and we will be working hard over the next few weeks to secure funding for both the senior and junior sections of the club.

"This event will go a long way to raising the funds that we need to get the section up and running with league entry fees and County FA registration.”

The Sky Blues have established themselves in the FA Women’s Premier League National Division, as they currently sit in seventh place in the league in their second season at this level. They also successfully defended their Birmingham FA County Cup trophy recently with a victory over Sporting Club Albion.

As well as providing many players for the first-team since the meteoric climb to the Premier League, the thriving Academy system has also been responsible for current Birmingham City star Laura Bassett.

The event takes place at the Moat House Leisure Centre, Winston Avenue, Coventry, CV2 1DX, from 10am to 1pm on Saturday 25th May.
