The SBitC are looking for players to join their Player Development Centres with links to our Academy...

The Player Development Centres were initially launched in September 2010, with 45 players attending the initial centre at the Alan Higgs Centre in Coventry.

The Player Development scheme provides a bridge between grassroots football and the Coventry City FC Academy – with the coaching curriculum being designed with a technical and tactical focus devised in conjunction with the Academy.

In the last three seasons the programme has continued to grow every year, with over 450 players aged 6-15 now taking part each week. The scheme now operates at seven sites in Coventry and Warwickshire – including a specific goalkeeper coaching programme - with a further two new centres planned for September.

The scheme has had noticeable success in the last three years, with over 100 players going on to trial with professional club academies and over 20 signing full contracts.

For the 2013-14 season, Sky Blues in the Community will also be entering a number of teams into the Junior Premier League, offering players the chance to represent the Sky Blues against other professional and semi-professional clubs as well as still playing for their grassroots clubs.

The community team will be running a series of open trials for players interested in joining the Player Development programme, starting on Saturday 8th June at the Alan Higgs Centre. All players who attend trials will be offered a place within the development scheme following their trial.
