City Ladies 2012/13 awards night

Coventry City Ladies hosting their annual end-of-season awards presentation tonight

Coventry City Ladies will be hosting their end-of-season presentation bash on the evening of Friday 7th June, at St Finbarr's Sports and Social Club.

The ladies will be recognised for their tremendous efforts over the past season, which culminated in their highest-ever league finish, as well as retaining the Birmingham FA County Cup.

Former manager Paul Cudby resigned in November, having guided the Sky Blues to back-to-back promotions and a Birmingham FA County Cup, en route to stabilising their place in the FA Women’s Premier League, during his four-year tenure at the club.

He was replaced by Chris Holloway, who led a late surge up the table after a flurry of postponements and rearranged games after the Christmas period. This magnificent run towards the end of the season saw Coventry pick up 13 from the final 18 points, to secure fifth position in the FA Women’s Premier League table.

The Sky Blues also enjoyed penalty shoot-out success over Sporting Club Albion in the final of the Birmingham FA County Cup, after the two teams couldn’t be separated after 120 minutes.

Along with the usual honours, the new President’s award will be presented for the first time. This identifies an individual within the club that has gone the extra mile and contributed in more ways than one to Coventry City over the season.

There will be an opportunity for the sponsors to meet the players and officials of the club in a social capacity, as well as raffles, with a number of prizes to be won, including signed football memorabilia.

The event will start at 7pm at St Finbarrs Sports and Social Club, located on Holbrook Lane, Holbrooks, Coventry, CV6 4DJ.
