Sky Blues boss Steven Pressley says he couldn't be more please with his side's application

Coventry City boss Steven Pressley says he can tell his side are hungry for success after the way they've tackled pre-season.

City jumped on a plane bound for their pre-season tour of Holland on Sunday, just 24 hours after beating Nuneaton Town 4-1 in their opening pre-season friendly.

The first morning at the club's Dutch training camp just outside Arnhem involved a series of endurance sprint drills and Pressley said he was really pleased with the attitude of his players and how they've approached their pre-season preparations.

"It was our first time on the training field today and the environment's been terrific for what we want to do," he said.

"We've spoken about working in cycles and we've progressed to the next stage of that cycle now where we've been concentrating on speed endurance so we need to ensure we continue to work as we have been and then move on again.

"We're still probably, as pre-season indicates, three weeks away in terms of where I want us to be by the start of the season but the players have been fantastic and we'll ensure that we are at our peak by the time we play that first game of the season.

"We had a good result at the weekend and I was really pleased with certain aspects of our play so we will also do analysis on that performance and continue to progress in terms of our football work and our endurance.

"Like I said before, I've been really pleased with the attitude and work ethic of the players. I couldn;t single one person out as they've all impressed me. We've also got a close knit togetherness within the coaching staff and everybody here is hungry for success."
