'More trialists to come in' - Pressley

23 July 2013

The City boss has confirmed more trialists are set to figure during the four-game pre-season week...

Coventry City manager Steven Pressley has confirmed more trialists are expected to join up with the City squad this week.

The Sky Blues have a tough week of pre-season action ahead with four games to be played against Cheltenham, Fleetwood, Mansfield and Oxford.

The City boss has confirmed Mathieu Manset has been on trial for the last two weeks but also a Portugese winger joined up with the squad yesterday and two French central defenders will also come to the club on trial this week.

All the trialists are expected to feature at some point during the four matches and Pressley hopes the trialists can give him 'something to think about'.

The City boss said: "It is going to be a difficult week for the squad with the four fixtures and with all the games away from home as well.

"We have got several trialists at the moment and there is another couple of players who we are expecting to join up with the squad during the week.

"They will help us get through the next couple of games but I am also looking for them to impress and give me something to think about.

"The trialists will get a chance to show what they can do over these next four games and it will give us a chance to assess them."

With many young players in the squad impressing during the pre-season tour of Holland, Pressley is expecting to see more players stake a claim for a first team spot during the week.

He added: "Over the course of the Tuesday and Wednesday games, we will definitely mix the group up. So, players who play tonight will be rested for tomorrow's match at Fleetwood.

"Then with the game at the weekend, we will be looking to field what we would consider nearer the first team.

"We will definitely field a good side at Mansfield on the Friday night and that's how things are shaping up.

"Over the course of these first two games, I will be looking for all the players to stake a claim and impress."
