Adam Barton, David Bell and Callum Wilson all score against the Owls...
Coventry City Under-21’s recorded an impressive 3-1 victory over Sheffield Wednesday at Nuneaton Town’s Triton Showers Community Stadium.
Development Squad coach Lee Carsley fielded a strong side with David Bell, Callum Ball and Conor Thomas all starting as they continue their return to full fitness following injury.
It was Bell who put City ahead late on into the first half when his deflected low effort found its way past the Wednesday keeper after good work from Thomas.
The Sky Blues quickly found themselves with a comfortable lead when just four minutes later, the impressive Barton struck from distance to put City 2-0 going into the break.
Carsley’s side continued their dominance after the break and was awarded a penalty when Callum Wilson was felled in the area under challenge from Wednesday defender Hayden White.
Trialist Danny Philliskirk stepped up but had his penalty saved by Adam Davies down to his right.
Bastien Hery grabbed a consolation for the Owls in the 86th minute before Bell rounded off the victory for Sky Blues in the final moments of the game.
