'The trialist is interesting' - Pressley

13 December 2013

Steven Pressley also believes Chris Maguire will prove a valuable option over the busy Christmas period...

Coventry City manager Steven Pressley has revealed that the Dutch trialist training with the Sky Blues has interested him.

The Dutchman, who can play out wide and as a central striker, has been training at the club’s Ryton training ground this week.

The City boss is looking to bolster his attacking options with forwards Leon Clarke and Callum Wilson having already scored 25 goals this season.

Pressley has confirmed the trialist will train for the final time with the City squad today ahead of the home game against Crewe Alexandra.

The City boss said: “He’s been in training with the squad this week and he’s interesting.

“The trialist will train with us again for the final time today and I’ll speak to him after training.

“At some point in the near future, I will speak to his agent and then I’ll inform everybody of where I’m going to go on this. “

The Sky Blues have made a number of signings already this season with Chris Dagnall and Chris Maguire joining on-loan from Championship sides Barnsley and Sheffield Wednesday.

The loan duo missed out on the FA Cup draw at Hartlepool because they were ineligible but scored on their league debut in the 3-1 win at MK Dons.

The City boss has been impressed by Maguire’s versatility, as the player returns to contention for the home league match against the Alex.

Pressley added: “I think he (Chris Maguire) can play coming off the left, coming off the right and through the middle.

“When I looked into signing him for the club, his versatility was something that was obviously attractive about him as a player as well as his ability.

“He provides us with some much-needed options both up-front and across the midfield. That is something that we certainly need for the busy Christmas period.”
