'Leon is raring to go' - Pressley

16 December 2013

The City boss says Leon Clarke is ready to start whilst his gives an update on Jordan Willis...

Coventry City manager Steven Pressley has confirmed striker Leon Clarke is in line to start against Hartlepool United.

The Sky Blues striker made his first appearance, since the loss against Tranmere Rovers, against Crewe Alexandra at the weekend.

Clarke came off the bench for loanee Chris Dagnall but Pressley says he could start in the FA Cup replay at Sixfields.

The City boss said: "Leon is ready to start. The big chap is raring to go and seems eager to get back to it.

"He was obviously disappointed he didn't start the game at the weekend. Understandably so as you want all your players disappointed if they're not in the side.

"He is looking forward to returning and I think it will be a boost to the group to see him return.

"We want to have all the options available to us in the coming weeks with the amount of games we have to play."

Loanee's Chris Dagnall and Chris Maguire will be ineligible for the game against the League Two side whilst defender Jordan Willis is still out injured.

However, the City boss has said Willis is making good progress but the trip to Swindon 'might come too early'.

He added: "Jordan Willis is getting close with his recovery. He joined in his first training session this week.

"I think the weekend's game at Swindon might come slightly early for him to be involved.

"But I think after the weekend, he will be ready to return to the group and get back into contention."
