'Happy to sacrifice Christmas' - Adams

19 December 2013

Coventry City left-back Blair Adams is looking forward to the Christmas period and the amount of games...

The Christmas fixtures is something every Coventry City fan looks forward too, with plenty of games for the Sky Blue Army to enjoy with their families.

This is not a luxury the City players can enjoy though, as the festive period means a lot of time is spent away from their family.

City left-back Blair Adams says this is an expense the players are happy to make.

Adams continued: “Obviously Christmas is a time you want to spend with your family, but as footballers that is a sacrifice that you have to make. We are all happy to do that.”

Throughout December last year, Coventry remained unbeaten, winning six out of seven games and City have only lost one game in December showing good form heading into the festive period.

The games against Crewe and Hartlepool were part of a spell of seven games in 21 days.

Home games with Peterborough and Oldham combined with trips to Swindon, Rotherham and Barnsley or Bristol City completes a hectic fixture list. Adams however, says he always enjoys the festive period.

The defender said: “We’re currently in a period of seven games in 21 days, but thing that we enjoy most is playing games.

“There is a lot of them around Christmas, so it’s a period we look forward to.”

Although Adams has been impressive since his move to Coventry, one aspect of his game is yet to be seen by the Sky Blues’ fans. A goal for the club has proved elusive, a stat that the defender is keen to be rid of.

Adams added: “I think that’s the one thing I have been working hard on.

“I had a good chance last week, but obviously hit it wide of the goal, hopefully it will come sooner rather than later.”
