'Good to have strikers back' - Moussa

17 December 2013

City midfielder Franck Moussa believes the side have a great chance in progressing with Callum Wilson and Leon Clarke back...

Coventry City midfielder Franck Moussa believes Callum Wilson and Leon Clarke will help City progress to the third round of the FA Cup.

The City midfielder netted his eighth goal of the season in the 2-2 draw with Crewe Alexandra at the weekend.

The 24-year old started up front for City in the 1-1 draw at Hartlepool United as Callum Wilson was suspended and Leon Clarke was injured.

Both strikers are now in contention to start for the replay at Sixfields tonight and Moussa believes the side will benefit.

The midfielder said: "It was a different experience for me playing up front in the first leg. The system worked well for the first 20 minutes and we went ahead.

"The idea was to have more midfielders around me but the game changed so I was a bit isolated on my own up front so that is why it will be good to have Callum (Wilson) and Leon (Clarke) back.

"They have shown a lot of times this season that when they are on it, they are up there with the very best in the league.

"They are our two main threats going forward and have been in great form this season. With them back and hopefully firing, I'm sure we can get the win."

Whilst City are joint highest-scorers in League One, the team have also conceded 36 league goals this season.

With the Alex scoring two goals against City at the weekend, Moussa hopes the side can tighten up at the back.

He added: "Mistakes happen and you can try to eradicate them but certain things you can't train against because that is football.

"We aren't going to start pointing fingers for mistakes, just when you do make a mistake, learn from it.

"We always try and help each other out. If the team concedes a goal, we all have to look at ourselves.

"There have been some good signs lately and I'm sure if we keep improving, these mistakes will stop."
