In a behind closed doors friendly at Ryton Training Ground, City lose 3-0 to Bournemouth..

Coventry City Under-21s lost 3-0 in a behind closed doors friendly against Bournemouth at Ryton Training Ground.

A Jordan Chiedozie brace and an own goal put the Cherries up at half-time and despite a spirited second-half performance, City failed to find the net.

There was a long delay at the start of the match after a Leon Lobjoit challenge left Bournemouth defender Baily Cargill needing medical treatment.

Jack Finch went closest for the Sky Blues as he headed wide from a Louis Garner corner in the 21st minute and City fell behind shortly after.

Aristide Bassele burst past Ryan Haynes on the left and after the goal-mouth scramble, Samir El Gaaouiri tapped home to put the away side ahead.

The impressive Jordan Chiedozie doubled the Cherries lead just two minutes later with a fine finish past Lee Burge, and tapped home a third before half-time.

City had a strong second-half with Mathieu Manset causing the Bournemouth defence plenty of problems throughout the game.

Adam Barton went close with a long-range effort but the Sky Blues lost in this friendly match ahead of the start of the Under-21's season next week.

The full City line-up: Burge (GK), Willis, Phillips, Finch (Azille-Moore), Haynes, Rankin (Lawton), Barton, Garner, Lobjoit, Manset, Trialist (Maund).

Subs: Gott (GK).
