'Murphy and Barton both doubts'

15 August 2013

City boss Steven Pressley has confirmed two possible doubts ahead of the Carlisle United fixture...

Coventry City manager Steven Pressley has confirmed both Joe Murphy and Adam Barton are doubts for Saturday's match against Carlisle United.

The City goalkeeper has started all three of Coventry's matches this season, completing a full 90 minutes in all of them.

He picked up the injury against Leyton Orient but passed a late fitness test for Sunday's 5-4 win against Bristol City.

Adam Barton has been an unused substitute of the three matches so far but did play against Bournemouth Under-21s on Monday.

Pressley said: "Joe (Murphy) has a slight foot and ankle problem. I don't know if you saw it during the Leyton Orient match, but he had a change of mind and tried to kick the ball, but he kicked the ground.

"To be fair, he played on all night but after it, he remained in a boot for several days. We left it late on the Sunday to see if he would make the Bristol City match.

"Credit goes to him because he wanted to play and that's what you want at your football club. Adam (Barton) has got a knock on his knee which has caused inflammation.

"We think he might be fine for the weekend but after that he will be rested. We will have to look at it."
