Sky Blues' appeal against skipper's dismissal at Orient rejected by FA regulatory commission
Coventry City's attempt to have midfielder Carl Baker's red card against Leyton Orient on Tuesday night rescinded has been unsuccessful.
The Football Association's regulatory commission considered the football club's evidence in an attempt to get captain Baker's dismissal overturned but rejected the appeal.
Baker was given a straight red card by referee Dean Whitestone for a foul on Orient's Romain Vincelot in City's 3-2 Capital One Cup defeat at Brisbane Road on Tuesday night.
The midfielder will now miss the Sky Blues' next three fixtures at home to Bristol City and Preston North End and away at Carlisle United with no additional match bans added.
