Cyrus Christie reflects on his Young Player of the Season award...

Coventry City right-back Cyrus Christie has won Young Player of the Season for the 2012/13 League One season.

The City Academy product broke into the first team last season making 39 appearances as the Sky Blues were relegated to League One.

Christie has continued his development as a professional footballer this season, making 39 appearances and scoring three goals.

The 20-year old’s willingness to get forward and support any City attack whilst performing a well in defence has made him one of the key players for City this season.

Christie was voted as Young Player of the Season by City’s management and coaching staff and the young defender was delighted to win the award for a second time.

Christie said: “In my first two seasons as a professional footballer, I have won the Young Player of the Season award in each season which is a great achievement.

“We have got a lot of quality young players in the side with Jordan Clarke and Blair Adams playing a lot of games this season so to win the award over players like that is always good.

“Conor Thomas has just come back into the side as well as Callum Wilson who has scored a few recently and being playing really well.

“On a personal level, it has been a fantastic season for me. I have played a lot of games for the club this season and hopefully I can bring that into next season.”
