City Under-13s reach national final to be played at St. Georges Park...

Coventry City Under-13s have reached the final of the Premier League Category two national finals after beating Millwall and Leeds at St. Georges Park.

The Sky Blues came through the regional stages where they faced Bristol City, Birmingham City and Swansea City, led by Youth Development Coach Andy Crabtree and part-time Under-13s coach Steve Lawson.

City beat Millwall and Leeds United yesterday in the tournament and will face Charlton Athletic in the final today.

Assistant Academy Manager Richard Stevens has been delighted with the team’s efforts: "It is a fantastic experience for the young players as staying in a hotel the night before a game and playing under the lights gives them the full Premier League experience.

"I have been really impressed with the group’s application and it is really promising to see them reach the final of a national tournament.

"They have been working together for around five or six years now and they had to cope with a lot of pressure during the Leeds game.

"They came through the test really well and the group are showing a real maturity which is really encouraging at this age."
