Sky Blues Under 18s suffer narrow defeat at Forest

Coventry City Under 18s suffered a narrow away defeat at the hands of Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

The side, coming off the back of 2-1 away win over Wigan Athletic, were undone by a 25-yard belter from Josh Thomas after 15 minutes at Wilford Lane in what was the Sky Blues' new Under 18s coach Ian Foster's first game in charge.

Rioch said: "We actually did quite well considering alot of the boys featured for the Under 21s earlier in the week which tooka little bit out of the legs but on the whole their level of performance showed what a good pre-season they had in terms of fitness.

"There was nothing Shane Fagan could do about the goal and our back third and in the middle of the park we were excellent. Upfront will come with time as the younger boys gain a bit more game understanding.

"It was a very encouraging performance though and an incredible effort from what was a very young side and it gives us plenty to work on."

Team

Coventry City: Fagan, Haynes, R Smith (J Smith 60), Moore-Azille, Fletcher, Lawton, Wiseman, Finch (Rankin 60), Bako (Forrester 75), Maund, Baker-Richardson
