Lee Carsley gets sponsorship from Point2 Solutions

The success of a “long-distance” Coventry City supporter has resulted in a commercial spin-off for the Sky Blues.

Fraser Griggs, who grew up in Eastern Green, now runs a successful business in Perth, Australia, where he has lived on and off for more than 15 years.

But the pull of Coventry City is still strong and this season his firm Point2 Solutions is sponsoring coach Lee Carsley.

And thanks to the success of the firm – which specialises in operational planning, supply chain and logistics management and operational business process evaluation and design, to help businesses work more efficiently – that could mean more business for CCFC.

Fraser, who went to Woodlands School, said: “I was a season ticket holder at Highfield Road and the Ricoh for more than a decade and have stayed very much in contact with everything at the club and try to get back to watch as often as I can.

“I was always a big fan of Lee Carsley and his approach to the game. He has a great attitude and I was really lifted when he said he has “unfinished business” at the club. I moved away as he did, and I feel a bit the same!

“I obviously can’t have his influence, but with my company taking off very well this is a way I can show support.”

And the success of Point2 Solutions means he might see his side in action more times this season than last, when he the firm was a match ball sponsor/

“I am now looking to build the business in Europe and the UK so if I can do that through corporate hospitality and sponsorship at CCFC then all the better,” Fraser said.

“I will be taking a number of friends and clients to the Carlisle game in September and hope to get over to the UK on four or five occasions during the season, and I’ll make sure the visits tie in with some home games at the Ricoh.”

Fraser is married to Australian Michelle and they have two children - Abby and Erin.

There is the usual rivalry with Aussies and the Brits and certainly Fraser has enjoyed the summer.

He said: “I was over in the UK during July and following the Olympics very closely – with my Australian wife!

“To say it has been enjoyable would be an understatement and the fact the Australian media are getting all bitter and twisted about their lack of medal success makes it all the sweeter.

“I am just hopeful that the glow of sporting success will carry on through the football season and we have something to cheer about this year.”

No doubt Fraser has been having some fun with City’s Tynan Scope, who is the club’s Corporate Sales Manager.

Tynan, an ex-City goalkeeper, is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Sport.

He said: “I think it is fantastic that Fraser is still so in touch and willing to support the club when he lives on the other side of the world.

“We are really keen to attract business support – and I have to take a bit of sporting stick along the way, but that is a price worth paying!”
