City Under-18's record Blades win

5 November 2012

Ian Foster's side record an impressive home win over Sheffield United...

Coventry City Under-18's recorded an impressive 3-2 over Sheffield United at the Alan Higgs Centre.

Ian Foster's side suffered defeat at the hands of Leeds United last week and the side were keen to get their season back on track.

City were ahead just before the half-hour mark when Ben Maund was found inside the area by Eli Bako and his low shot found the bottom corner to give the home side the lead going into the break.

However, their lead only lasted 10 minutes after the break when Sheffield United converted a penalty to draw the Blades level.

Both sides had numerous chances to put themselves back ahead and in the 66th minute, it was Coventry who did that. The Sky Blues restored their lead when Louis Garner weaved his way through the United defence and finished brilliantly.

But Foster's side once again gave United a way back into the match just four minutes later, as the away side turned in a well worked free-kick which set the game up for a thrilling finale.

Coventry weren't to be denied however and with eight minutes left on the clock, Jack Finch was on hand to convert after a goalmouth scramble and make sure City grab all three points in an entertaining match at the Alan Higgs Centre.
