City given Performance of the Week award

21 November 2012

Sky Blues' 3-1 win over Colchester earns them weekly award from the League Managers' Association

Coventry City manager Mark Robins' old boss Sir Alex Ferguson was part of a five-man panel which awarded the Sky Blues the F&C Investments Performance of the Week Award for their midweek 3-1 away win over Colchester United.

The League Managers Association panel, also comprising LMA Chairman Howard Wilkinson, Joe Royle, Dave Bassett and Barry Fry were in agreement after striukes from Franck Moussa, William Edjenguele and David McGoldrick handed the Sky Blues a third consecutive away league win and their fourth victory in their last five games.

Robins will receive a specially engraved crystal football in a presentation this week to commemorate the award.

Speaking after the match he said: "That was an outstanding all-round performance and I'm really proud of them.

"Colchester are a good side, as they showed in the second half, but our passing was great, we scored three good goals and then stayed brave to see it out.

"We won't get carried away but we've got a couple of home games coming up now so it's a great opportunity for us. We'll move on, prepare properly and be ready for Portsmouth on Saturday."
