Cameron gets another 90 minutes in Under 21s defeat away to the Latics

Sky Blues defender Nathan Cameron took another step towards a return to the first team fold after getting another 90 minutes in the Sky Blues Under 21s away defeat to Wigan Athletic on Thursday.

City went down 2-0 to the Latics at Robin Park after two first-half goals although goalkeeper Lee Burge, also making a comeback from injury, denied the home side a third with a penalty save late in the second half.

Academy manager Gregor Rioch's side comprised of ten Under 18s, complimented by Cameron's inclusion, but it was not enough to fend off the threat of a stronger, older Wigan side.

Rioch said: "We know that sometimes it will be the case we will be up against teams containing older, more experienced players but that aside we did come out with some positives despite the result.

"I thought Alex Donald and Joe Pegg were real plus' for us today as were Nathan and Joe Henderson. As a back four I was pleased with how approached the game.

"They scored two in the first half but second half I thought we did much better with the ball although we could possibly have done with holding the ball up a little bit better."

Team

Coventry City: Burge, Pegg, Donald, Cameron, Henderson, Daniels (Wiseman 60), Garner, Rankin (Lawton 60), Roberts, Jeffers, Forrester (Baker-Richardson 46)
