Killer impressed by Daniels

City midfielder talks up young debutant team mate Billy Daniels after win over Dagenham

Sky Blues midfielder Kevin Kilbane has praised youngster Billy Daniels following City's 1-0 win at Dagenham and Redbridge.

Coventry progressed to the second round thanks to a late penalty by Kilbane after Richard Wood was impeded in the 89th minute.

Daniels partnered Kilbane in midfield and he took time to praise his teammate's maturity throughout the game.

The 35-year old said: "When I joined the club, it was always the plan for me to help bring through the younger players on the pitch.

"It is something I have enjoyed and Billy (Daniels) tonight was absolutely brilliant. He showed some real maturity on the ball and some good touches.

"He was outstanding without doing anything spectacular, he always found time on the ball and wasn't scared about putting a foot in.

"I've been really impressed with him throughout pre-season and hopefully he can continue that progress."

With the win, Coventry secured a second round draw at home to Birmingham City and Kilbane added the team can take that confidence through to Saturday's match against Yeovil Town.

With Coventry selling out their full allocation for the game, Kilbane is hoping for the perfect start to League One.

He added: "With the support we will have down there, it is going to be a great occasion.

"But going there again, it will be a tricky game. They are a good side who will see Coventry as a big scalp and we have to battle that.

"We all recognise we have to give the fans something as well and we are really hoping to improve on this display and push forward.

"It has been difficult supporting the team over the last few years and they expect us to be challenging around those top spots.

"We are focused on doing that and we want to give the supporters something back."
