Former Sky Blue laid to rest at private service

Former Sky Blue Ernie Machin, who passed away last month aged 68, was laid to rest at a small private service attended by family and close friends on Monday.

The family of Ernie would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their kind words and support at what has been a difficult time.

Ernie's years as a professional footballer - especially with the Sky Blues - were the happiest years of his life so it is very touching to know that his is so fondly remembered by so many people.

We would like to extend particular thanks to the Former Players' Association which, over the years, made such an effort to involve Ernie in the former players' events. This meant an enormous amount to Ernie - and so means alot to the fmaily.

Anyone who wishes to mark Ernie Machin's passing is encourages to make a donation to Coventry and Warwickshire Mind or to Coventry City Former Players' Association.
