Sky Blues in ongoing talks with former Motherwell midfielder and agent

Sky Blues boss Andy Thorn says that talks with former Motherwell midfielder Steven Jennings are ‘ongoing’.

The 27-year old has been on trial at the club for a number of weeks and featured in the 2-1 win over Bristol Rovers.

Thorn said after the game that he was impressed with Jennings’ performance and today confirmed talks are progressing.

The City boss commented: “I thought he did well at the weekend. Him and his agent are now in talks with the club at the moment.

“I can’t tell you any more about it at the moment but he has done well since coming here.”

Thorn’s latest signing was Adam Barton from Preston North End and the midfielder played in the wins at Port Vale and Bristol Rovers.

The 21-year old has been included in the Republic of Ireland’s Under-21 side which means he will miss the cup tie against Dagenham and Redbridge tomorrow.

Thorn admits he was disappointed that Barton won’t be involved against the Daggers but hopes he will come back stronger.

He added: “It is disappointing that he is set to miss out as I was hoping to have him involved against Dagenham.

“We have enough cover in the squad but it is a real blow to us. He has come in and made a really good impression and looks a really good player.

“I was looking to give him more game in the League Cup so that breaks up our plans a bit. Sometimes you can’t do anything about those situations but hopefully he will come back fitter and stronger.”
