The Sky Blues development side began their campaign with three points after a narrow 1-0 victory against Bolton Wanderers...
Kwame Thomas scored the only goal of the game at the start of the second half to give Nicky Eaden's side a winning start.
The visitors had the first sight of the returning Lee Burge's goal in just the third minute, as midfielder Jack Earing went close with a curling 25-yard effort.
Burge was called into action again shortly after. The shot stopper, showing no signs of a shoulder injury that had kept him on the sidelines, wonderfully tipped an Alex Perry effort round the post before denying Earing moments later.
City began to grow into the game and should have taken the lead through Thomas. Jordan Ponticelli found the striker six-yards out but his header rebounded back off the 'keeper before Devon Kelly-Evans diverted it wide.
Thomas was again involved just minutes before the half-time whistle, pouncing on a mistake in the Bolton defence to round the 'keeper before having his effort cleared off the line.
The Sky Blues took the lead just after the hour mark with Thomas getting the goal his contribution had deserved. Trialist did well to carry the ball towards the byline and cut it back to the striker for the easiest of finishes from close range.
The visitors pushed for an equaliser in the closing stages and went closest through Oluwatomisim Adeloye, who was inches away from connecting to a ball delivered from the right-hand side.
