With unemployment being a major issue to local authorities, we feel it is our job to upskill, educate and encourage our community to take their first steps onto the career ladder. We provide qualifications, volunteer opportunities and paid employment to both young people and adults to maximise their chance of future success.
We are confident that with our connections, experience and high quality educational projects, we have a route for everyone across Coventry and Warwickshire.
Funded by the National Lottery Community Fund and the European Social Fund, managed by Coventry and Warwickshire CDA, Accelerate is a building better opportunities project that can build confidence, give training, improve skills and provide valuable work experience – all geared towards helping people to find a job that suits them and their personal circumstances.
Sky Blues in the Community (SBITC) is one of 23 local organisations providing co-ordinated employment support to people living within Coventry and Warwickshire in finding the right employment opportunity for them. Throughout the funding period, SBITC are providing free programmes for those people who are currently unemployed or economically inactive, supporting them through a Sports Leaders UK Level 1 in Sports Leadership Award as well as overcoming complex barriers they face to employment and developing their confidence, all within a sociable and positive environment.

Football Education Programme
The Football Education Programme has a three-way partnership between Sky Blues in the Community, Coventry College and Bedworth United. This partnership is in place to support a pathway for players into non-league football with Bedworth United (U18s, U21s and First Team).
The Football Education Programme has been created for 16-19-year olds to represent Coventry City FC against other EFL Football Club Education Programmes in the EFL Community and Education Football Alliance.
The programme provides opportunities for students to play and train with Sky Blues coaches alongside studying in full-time education. We currently have 20 students registered and representing CCFC, with 5 of those students on volunteering placements with SBitC. We are proud that 7 young people have transitioned in to the Football Education programme from our Premier League Kicks project and the Player Development Centre’s with Sky Blues in the Community. Students will gain qualifications FA Level 1 in coaching football to work towards a career in the sports industry representing Sky Blues alongside studying.
