Coventry City signed highly-rated midfielder Adam Barton for an undisclosed fee in the summer of 2012.
The 21-year-old has joined the Sky Blues on a three-year-deal from Preston North End.
The young midfielder, who has been capped by Northern Ireland, has played more than 50 games for Preston after making his debut as a 19-year-old.
