Leicester Out-Foxed
The Sky Blues' second string left it late to seal their third consecutive victory of the Pontin's Holiday League season with a 3-2 win at Leicester City.
A goal from Senegal international midfielder Khalilou Fadiga deep into stoppage time snatched the points for Steve Ogrizovic's men and capped a gutsy performance.
Leicester took an early lead when Arjan de Zeeuw deflected a shot into his own net but Leon Best restored parity before strike-partner Donovan Simmonds put the Sky Blues in front after the break.
Striker Ricky Sappleton grabbed an equaliser with 12 minutes remaining and that looked enough to earn the Foxes a draw but Fadiga struck late on.
Fadiga, who is currently building up his fitness with City after injury cut short his brief spell at the club last season, started his first game since April in a clash which also saw boss Steve Ogrizovic hand run-outs to Dimi Konstantopolous in goal and Best up front against a young Leicester side at Hinckley Utd FC.
Best wasted a great chance when set clear by Fadiga and in the 12th minute, City were made to pay when they fell behind thanks to Jonathan Hayes cross being deflected into his own net by de Zeeuw's left leg.
The Sky Blues passed the ball around with precision but some of the crosses were just too far to reach Best and Simmonds.
Fadiga seemed to be finding his feet as he sprayed some good balls around the pitch from the middle of the park - especially one in the 26th minute to find Kevin Thornton some thirty yards out on the left.
This Irishman's cross was good but Ellery Cairo ran in to head just wide.
Two more dangerous Fadiga free-kicks were also nodded wide before City finally drew level in the 36th minute when Liam Francis crossed to the far post for Simmonds, who laid off for Leon Best to lash into the net from close-range.
Best was replaced at the break by Academy starlet Ashley Cain who moved to his favoured position on the right wing with Cairo swapping to the left flank and Fadiga moving upfront.
And in the 58th minute, the Sky Blues took the lead with a lovely Cairo cross fell for Simmonds to stroke into the net from eight yards for his third goal of the campaign.
De Zeeuw then sent a powerful header onto the crossbar from a Fadiga corner nine minutes later before Lee Hildreth twice forced the home 'keeper into saves with long-range efforts.
But, against the run of play, Leicester equalised in the 77th minute when Sappleton sprung clear of the offside trap and beat Konstantopolous on his near post with a powerful drive.
Adam Walker was sent on for his debut as Howard headed narrowly wide for Leicester and Mike Stowell's side looked like they were going for the win as Burns followed suit with a drive.
But two minutes into stoppage time Coventry snatched the win when the influential Fadiga nipped in on the right of the area and drove the ball low into the net.
