Sky Blues out of Birmingham Senior Cup
Reigning champions Coventry City are out of the Birmingham Senior Cup after losing 2-1 to Solihull Moors on Tuesday night.
The Sky Blues fielded a strong side for the clash and took the lead in the 26th minute through Julian Gray, only to concede two late goals which saw the home side progress to the next round.
Coventry started the game strongly, with Kevin Kyle heading wide from an Ellery Cairo cross with seven minutes on the clock. Six minutes later, the Scot had another opportunity - this time as his effort across goal was deflected for a corner.
On 26 minutes, the Sky Blues took the lead after a period of sustained pressure. An excellent through ball from Michael Hughes found Kyle, who crossed into the box for the newly-fit Gray - the winger heading it past the keeper to give the visitors the lead.
Cairo nearly made it two on 31 minutes when the Dutch midfielder produced an excellent reserve turn from Kevin Thornton's through ball before lifting his shot over the bar, before fellow countryman Arjan de Zeeuw headed into the arms of the goalkeeper on 35 minutes.
The Sky Blues started the second half well but conceded on 76 minutes, with Dale Anderson finishing past Danny Ireland to make it 1-1.
And there was disaster for Ogrizovic's men with 79 minutes on the clock - the ball squirming away from Ireland's fingers for Anderson to tap it in.
