Matthew West's third goal in as many appearances wasn't enough as an experienced City reserve side went down to a 3-1 defeat against Wolves at their Compton training complex.

Academy striker West, a second-half substitute, linked-up well with fellow youngster Dave Burtoft to grab a late consolation as a three-goal salvo, following a goalless first-half, earned the home side a resounding win.

Nevertheless, the game allowed first-team manager Iain Dowie to run the rule over several stars hoping to impress ahead of Sunday's local derby trip to Birmingham City.
