A YOUNG defender who has a promising future ahead of him, Ben is one of several Academy youngsters to have burst onto the first-team scene in 2007/08.
Along with former Academy team mate Liam Davis, he spent a successful loan spell with League Two outfit Peterborough last season season, playing in ten games.
He was handed his City debut as a late substitute during the penultimate game of last season against Stoke and completed his full debut in an FA Cup tie against Bristol City in 2006/07.
A first league start followed in City's final home match of the season against WBA before he gained his first England under-19 cap in a UEFA European Championship match against Czech Republic.
After impressing in the reserves, he was thrown in at the deep end against Manchester United at Old Trafford in the Carling Cup last season and kept his place in the side up until suffering a hamstring injury in January 2008.
