SIMPSON joined the Sky Blues from non-league Cambridge United in the summer of 2007.
The brave and determined striker caught the eye of City's scouts after bagging 17 goals in just 28 starts for the U's in 2006/07.
A schoolboy from the age of nine with Norwich City, he joined Cambridge United from neighbours Cambridge City and made his first team debut at the age of 16 in December 2002.
He made an instant impact for City, scoring on his debut as a substitute in a 3-0 Carling Cup win over Notts County in August.
His first start for the club came in a memorable 2-0 Carling Cup win over Manchester United in September, while his first Championship goal arrived soon after in a 3-1 win over Blackpool.
