Toffees come unstuck at Highfield Road
Coventry piled on the misery for Everton manager Walter Smith as spectacular goals from Steve Froggatt, Darren Huckerby and Noel Whelan in front of the Sky TV cameras helped City cruise to victory in a Premiership bottom-of-the-table clash at Highfield Road.
The Sky Blues proved there was life after the recently departed Dion Dublin as they followed up victory at Blackburn with another deserved three points.
Only some poor finishing prevented Gordon Strachan's side from doubling their tally before Whelan's last-gasp tap-in gave a truer reflection of their dominance to the final scoreline.
Whelan, promoted from midfield to striker after Dublin's move to Aston Villa, and Huckerby showed immense potential as a strike-pairing.

With Roland Nilsson and Richard Shaw in commanding form at the back, there was never any doubt about the outcome - apart from a 15 minute spell in the middle of the first-half when Everton briefly threatened.
And the Sky Blues went ahead in spectacular fashion in the 16th minute when Nilsson robbed Ibrahima Bakayoko deep in his own half and switched defence to attack with an excellent ball into the path of Froggatt.
The former Wolves man ventured forward some 40-yards down the left flank before unleashing an unstoppable rising shot which flew past a startled Thomas Myhre into the roof of the net.
Coventry needed only four minutes of the second-half to increase their lead via another spectacular goal. Froggatt played a precision pass into the path of Huckerby, who showed superb control to pull the ball down and crash home a fierce drive from 15-yards out.

Whelan missed a golden chance to add to Everton's misery in the 80th minute when Myhre blocked his first effort with a smart save before the City striker put the rebound over the top with the goal at his mercy.
But he amends in the last minute when Huckerby's shot was cleared off the line by David Unsworth and Whelan smashed in the rebound from close-range.
