LOAN: Sky Blues snap up Ward on loan

Posted on: Fri 10 Sep 2010

COVENTRY City have secured the services of promising Bolton Wanderers forward Danny Ward on a youth loan until January 1.

The 19-year-old is highly-rated by Bolton boss Owen Coyle who recently signed the youngster up to a new three-year deal with the Premier League club.

Ward spent the second half of last season on loan at Swindon Town where he made 31 appearances and scored nine goals. He also helped the Robins reach the League One play-off final before they lost against Millwall.

Sky Blues boss Aidy Boothroyd said he was delighted with the capture of Ward.

"Danny is a fantastic signing for us, there was a lot of interest from other clubs in the division, so it is a testament to the set-up here that he opted to join us," he said.

"He adds another option to the squad and he has the potential to get goals, so I am looking forward to working with him.

"Everyone saw what he was capable of during his spell with Swindon last season, and he will only get better, and we will get the benefit of that development, while he will benefit from being here."

Ward will be eligible to line-up against Leicester City for the early 12.30pm kick- off at the Ricoh Arena on Saturday.
