FUNDRAISERS from Zoë's Place baby hospice received a boost this week when City winger David Bell presented them with a donation towards their latest project.
Bell met with Appeals Director, Vicki Partridge, and the charity's mascot, Zoë's Bear, to hand over a cheque for £666.66.
The money was donated as part of the Football Association's Community Shield Fund scheme following a season-long partnership between the club and Zoë's Place throughout 09/10.
Zoë's Place is a home from home for babies who have life limiting or terminal illnesses and special complex needs. As the only 'baby specific' hospices in the UK, Zoë's Place offers palliative and respite care for infants from birth to five years old.
The charity, which receives little government funding, currently has two facilities in Middlesbrough and Liverpool and work is now nearing completion on their latest hospice based on the site of Exhall Grange School in Coventry.
As one of the clubs nominated charities for last season, the Sky Blues worked with Zoë's Place to help promote their local appeal, holding a collection at the Ricoh Arena and donating signed merchandise for fundraising.
Appeal Director Vicki said: "The new build project in Coventry has cost over £700,000 and, going forward, Zoë's Place will need to raise £2.5 million a year to continue to provide services, free of charge, to families in need across the country."
"We have enjoyed working with Coventry City over the last twelve months and look forward to inviting David and some of his team mates to the opening of the new hospice later this year."
