COVENTRY City goalkeeper Keiren Westwood dropped into Coventry Myton Hospice last week to present staff with a cheque for £666.68.
The money will be put towards the cost of running the new £7million facility which opened on the site of University Hospital last November.
Westwood spent over an hour looking around the hospice and talking to staff and patients before handing over the cheque to community fundraiser Claire McDowell.
She said: "It was fantastic to have Keiren visit the hospice. One of the patients is a Sky Blues fan so it really made his day.
"We are grateful that Coventry City has given us their support over the last 12 months and we hope to maintain a relationship with the club. We rely on donations from companies and individuals and need your support so that we can continue to be there for our patients and their families when they need us the most."
Myton Hospice provides vital care for patients with life-limiting illnesses and needs to raise £6.1 million every year to run the centre and its two other hospices in Rugby and Warwick.
The money, allocated by the Football Association for Coventry City to contribute to local causes as part of the Community Shield Fund, was donated as part of a season-long partnership between The Myton Hospices and the club.
Throughout 2009/10, the Sky Blues have supported the charity by promoting appeals, holding a collection at the Ricoh Arena and donating signed merchandise for fundraising. The club is due to announce its nominated charities for the current season in the coming weeks.
