FREE: Bothroyd welcomes adversity

Posted on: Mon 23 Aug 2010

COVENTRY City boss Aidy Boothroyd says he will welcome adversity if it means his side growfrom their mistakes.

The Sky Blues twcie took the lead in their 2-1 weekend win over Derby County at the Ricoh Arena on Saturday with a Lukas Jutkiewicz spot kick and Ben Turner's first ever professional goal to seal all the points.

And while Boothroyd said his side were nowhere near the finished product, it was nice to see them dig in for another win.

"You have to give Derby County credit because they played some great stuff at times. What we are going to need is finetune that organisational ability that we have got," he said.

"I was very pleased for Ben getting his goal and it was a great time to score. Ben and every other player can still get better and they are getting better and they are growing as a team.

"I thought the game could have been out of sight at times. Gary McSheffrey went close in the first half and Clive Platt forced a fantastic save out of their goalkeeper but this is what the Championship is like. It's riding it out at times."

Boothroyd insisted though he would not be getting carried away with the Sky Blues' impressive start to the season, having taken seven points from nine in theor opening three games of the 2010/11 npower Championship campaign.

"We still have alot of work to do on how we play both with and without the ball. Millwall will be a very tough test next week because the New Den is a hard place to go, they play fast, flowing football and they are very good so I'm very much looking forward to it.

"I think tough games are extremely important though because you need some adversity, some bad things to happen so that you can grow from it.

"As long as we dont think we are the finished product because we are absolutely nowhere near it at the moment but it's nice to get a win through organisation and everybody knows now that it's back to work again."
