SAVINGS: Account number one!

Posted on: Fri 20 Aug 2010

COVENTRY Building Society has opened its doors to Sky Blues fans, eager to be among the first to open a new Sky Blues savings account.

Coventry Building Society (the UK's third largest Building Society) has teamed up with Coventry City Football Club to offer two new savings accounts for Sky Blues fans, the Sky Blues Saver account for adults and a Junior Sky Blues Saver account for children.

Both accounts not only offer an attractive rate of interest (see notes to editors) for savers but fans will also be supporting their club. Coventry Building Society will make an annual bonus payment which is the equivalent of up to one per cent of the average balances held to the Sky Blues. So everyone is a winner.

Sky Blues savings account holders will also receive a host of goodies and an opportunity to win 'money can't buy' experiences.

Adult savers will automatically enter a prize draw to win a host of experiences including VIP match days, photo opportunities with the CCFC team and a signed shirt. Junior savers will also have the opportunity to win prizes which include being a mascot for the day, warming up with the Sky Blues before a match or have their favourite player visit their school. (Please see notes to editors for further details).

Adult savers will also receive a £10 voucher to redeem against a match day or season ticket and junior savers will receive an excusive Sky Blues Piggybank.

Richard Bullard from Courthouse Green in Coventry is one of the first to open a Sky Blues Savers account.

He said: "I have been supporting the Sky Blues for over 52 years and I love collecting anything from the Sky Blues. This is a great way for fans to support their club and I think the prize draws are fantastic. Fingers crossed, I'm hoping to win one of the VIP match days!"

Sky Blues manager Aidy Boothroyd also attended the launch.

He said: "We are delighted to have teamed up with Coventry Building Society. This is a great opportunity for fans to invest in their club, safe in the knowledge that their savings are looked after by a strong local society."

Tina Bird, Customer Service Manager at High Street branch, said: "We have had a fantastic response from Sky Blues fans both young and old who are keen to show their support for the club."
