COVENTRY City striker Shaun Jeffers has earned his first ever call-up to the England Under 19s squad.

The 18-year-old is currently on a month-long youth loan at League Two outfit Cheltenham Town and scored his first goal for the club in their midweek Carling Cup first round defeat away to Brentford.

The England Under-19s match will be played at Crewe Alexandra's Gresty Road ground on Thursday, September 2 (7.30pm).

England reached the semi-finals of the European Under-19 Championships in France last month and the first round of qualification matches for the 2011 Championships in October.

They face hosts Belgium, Cyprus and Albania as they look to earn a place in the Elite Qualifying Round.
