FREE: Eastwood wants to impress

Posted on: Thu 05 Aug 2010

COVENTRY City striker Freddy Eastwood says he is eager to impress Sky Blues manager Aidy Boothroyd.

The new 2010/11 npower Championship campaign kicks off for the Sky Blues against Portsmouth on Saturday at the Ricoh Arena and Eastwood said he was looking forward to getting started.

"The first game is always going to be the big game and playing a team that has just come out of the Premier League adds a bit of an edge to it," Eastwood said.

"No matter who is picked to play at the weeekend, all of the boys are looking forward to getting the first game under their belts and hopefully three points as well."

Eastwood also commented on his fitness and added he wanted to make a good impression on boss Boothroyd.

"I've come back this pre-season and I've been fitter and sharper which I've obviously needed to be from last season.

"The new manager has come in and I needed to impress him and hopefully up to now I've done that."
