MCSHEFFREY: Been a good day

Posted on: Thu 05 Aug 2010

COVENTRY City wideman Gary McSheffrey said he was pleased to get off the pre-season mark after netting for the Sky Blues in their 1-1 draw with West Bromwich Albion at the Ricoh Arena.

The 27-year-old netted on his homecoming debut for City although the Baggies notched up a second half equaliser through Ishmael Miller.

"I'm obviously pleased to have got off the mark because it always takes a bit of pressure off you but on the whole I thought all of the lads did really well," he said.

"We played some good football, we did well on the counter attack, broke really well and to be honest we could have had a couple more goals before half time.

"It's still all about getting everything right before the start of the season because Portsmouth next week will be a completely different game but West Brom are a good side and it was a good test for us."
