BOOTHROYD: Pleased with display

Posted on: Thu 05 Aug 2010

COVENTRY City boss Aidy Boothroyd said the Sky Blues' 1-1 draw with West Bromwich Albion at the Ricoh Arena helped him balance out what he hopes will be a good recipe for the start of the season next wek.

Gary McSheffrey's first half opener was cancelled out by West Brom's Ishmael Miller in the second 45 minutes but Boothroyd said there were plenty of positives to take away from the clash.

"I was pleased by two things, the first that we tested a very good team and gave them problems and the second was that they tested us and gave us our own things to work on," he said.

"It's still about getting that recipe right and then trying to make a great cake out of it.

"We had lots of different good bits about us and it's now about bringing that all together but that takes time with hard work on the training pitch but overall I was very pleased with the performance.

Boothroyd also praised midfield general Lee Carsley on his home debut.

"Lee is a winner and winners have this infectious behaviour which rub off on everybody around them.

"I was thrilled when he decided to come here and if we can keep him fit this season I think he will be a fantastic asset for us."
