FREE: Boothroyd making final preps

Posted on: Thu 29 Jul 2010

COVENTRY City manager Aidy Boothroyd says he's confident his Sky Blues side will get batter and better as the season draws on.

City play their final friendly of pre-season at home to West Bromwich Albion on Saturday and Boothroyd said while he feels his side are not quite where he wants them to be yet, they are certainly not far off.

"Each game I can see us getting closer to where I want us to be and with new players coming in all of the time they have a little bit of catching up to do but as those new players bed in with the rest of the players I genuinely feel we are going to get better and better as the season goes on," Boothroyd said.

"I had a good place to start with the club already to be honest and we know we need to bring in one or two others and we are working hard at doing that.

"We all want to get started now and get playing for points but West Brom will be an incredibly tough test for us before the season starts and will definitely add to our preparation.

"They were promoted to the Premier League having played some fantastic football and they have their own big challenge ahead of them this season in the same way we have.
