PREVIEW: Walsall v Coventry City

COVENTRY City take a 1-0 win over Northampton Town to the Banks' Stadium on Saturday in their latest friendly clash with Walsall.

James McPake scored the only goal of the game in the win over the Cobblers and manager Aidy Boothroyd said the trip to Walsall would represent another step up in the Sky Blues' pre-season preparations.

Coventry have yet to concede a goal in pre-season while Walsall had four put past them in a 4-0 home friendly defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Tuesday night, their first friendly clash of their preparations for the 2010/11 npower League One campaign.

CONNECTIONS

FORMER Sky Blues Clayton Ince and Julian Gray currently ply their trade at the Banks' Stadium.

Goalkeeper Ince made four appearances for Coventry during the 2005/06 season while Gray netted four goals in 26 starts for City between 2007 and 2009.

INJURIES AND BANS

Coventry City defender Richard Wood could be back in contention after missing the Sky Blues' win over Northampton although David Bell could be absent as he recovers from a knee injection.

Gary Deegan remains unavailable with a fractured ankle.
