FREE: O'Donovan finding his range

Posted on: Mon 19 Jul 2010

COVENTRY City striker Roy O'Donovan says he is counting down the days to the Sky Blues' next friendly against Northampton Town on Wednesday as he prepares for the start of the 2010/11 npower Championship season.

The 24-year-old hitman, who signed for the Sky Blues this summer, played a full 90 minutes in City's 0-0 draw away at Hinckley United.

And he said he was looking forward to getting more minutes under his belt so he could be sharp and ready for when the new league campaign kicks off.

"I had a couple of efforts against Hinckley that blazed over but pre-season is all about getting yourself fit and sharp so I'm really looking forward to Northampton on Wednesday," he said.

"It's all about getting where we want to be for when we start against Portsmouth and when we start taking our chances that will get the confidence going.

"It's been a long summer for many of us and while a long summer is good you always want to get back as quickly as possible so you can keep your levels up.

"We increased the tempo for the last half an hour against Hinckley and I think the fans could see that so we will just keep raising the level we play at so we can be ready for August 7."
