FREE: Boothroyd pleased with progress

Posted on: Mon 19 Jul 2010

COVENTRY City manager Aidy Boothroyd said he was pleased with his side's display following their 0-0 pre-season draw with Hinckley United at the Greene King Stadium.

The Sky Blues dominated the second half in blustery conditions and Boothroyd said while the game was goalless he was pleased with his squad's application on a day which saw them squeeze a good display into a day that had already seen them train twice in the morning.

"Pre-season is obviously about physical conditioning but it's also about the mental preparation as well," he said.

"Hinckley gave us a good game and in them we were facing a side that for the first half an hour went all out because they are trying to please their manager and it's like their cup final.

"I thought we might have scored because we had enough chances to win a couple of games but that will come with time.

"We had alot more shots, chances and possession, it was a bit dispointing not to get a goal for our fans but like I say that will come with time."
