COLEMAN: We were embarassing

Posted on: Sun 02 May 2010

COVENTRY City manager Chris Coleman says he was embarrassed at the nature of the Sky Blues' last day home defeat to Watford at the Ricoh Arena.

City went down 4-0 to the Hornets after a brace from Danny Graham and strikes from Henri Lansbury and Martin Sordell left the club in the Coca-Cola Championship and Coleman pulled no punches in summing up his side's display.

I thought we were embrassing if I am being honest with you. We completely threw the towel in and it really hurts me to say that," Coleman said.

"In seven days we have gone from playing very well against a tough Middlesbrough side away from home to ending the season in the complete opposite fashion to the way we wanted to infront of a great turnout by our fans.

"That result is going to have to sit with us over the summer now because there is no putting it right next week. It's done, it's finishedand I hope the players go away thinking long and hard about that because I know I will be.

"Coventry is a very big club and with that comes expectation. It has a big reputation with a fantastic stadium but with that comes expectation so now we must go into the summer and concentrate on building something on the pitch that will live up to that."
