WOOD: Great test for us

Posted on: Tue 16 Mar 2010

COVENTRY City defender Richard Wood says he is looking forward to the stern test he expects off Cardiff City's front line tonight.

The Sky Blues entertain Dave Jones' Bluebirds tonight as Chris Coleman's side continue their push towards the top six and Wood said he was eager to test himself against one of the most potent attacking forces in the Championship.

"You always want to test yourself against the best players and Cardiff City have scored a lot of goals this season so I'm looking forward to the game," he said.

"We've been doing well defensively as well recently so I think it will be a good contest."

The 24-year-old central defender said the Sky Blues were also enjoying their underdog status with regards to their chase for a place in the top six.

"Nobody has really mentioned us and our play-off chances and we want to keep it that way to be honest.

"The lads are buzzing at the moment and there is no pressure on us whatsoever. We can just go out and get on with our business.

"It was a good point against Plymouth at the weekend because they are fighting for their lives but I think Cardiff will be a much more open game because they are used to attacking and want the win as much as we do so with them playing their game and us playing ours it could make for a very entertaining game."
