COLEMAN: Better in the second half

Posted on: Mon 15 Mar 2010

COVENTRY CIty boss Chris Coleman said he thought his side looked like they would come from behind to win their eventual 1-1 draw with Plymouth Argyle at the Ricoh Arena.

The point takes the Sky Blues to within two points of sixth placed Cardiff City, who visit the Ricoh on Tuesday evening, and Coleman said he was far more pleased with his side's showing in the second 45 minutes which saw them grab an equalising goal through Michael McIndoe after Kari Arnason put the visitors ahead on the stroke of half time.

"We looked a bit stodgy and a bit sticky in the first half if I'm being honest but second half the boys came out and I really thought we were going to go on to win the game," he said.

"Both ourselves and Plymouth had chances to take more than a point today and although I thought we had the better of the second half, all credit to Plymouth who made a good game of it.

"The players have been magnificent for me for quite a while now and while it's not OK to say they can have an off day they certainly had an off 45 minutes in the first half but we asked far more questions of Plymouth in the second half which was very pleasing and we went extremely close to getting all the points.

"I'm really happy for Michael McIndoe to get his first goal because I know it has been playing on his mind a bit in the last few weeks but he deserves his goal because he always works his socks whether it's training or a matchday so I'm delighted for him."
